Congressman Tom Garrett opposes House Speaker Paul Ryan’s plan to revise the Affordable Care Act so far.
Someone call Bob Goodlatte and ask him why he is “undecided”!
The “obomination” that is the Affordable Care Act needs to be repealed. Period. Not replaced with another version of government healthcare as appears to be Speaker Ryan’s current proposal. If anything, the federal government could make sure there are no barriers to purchasing insurance across state lines, but that should end their involvement.
“For weeks, Virginia congressmen Dave Brat and Tom Garrett – both members of the Freedom Caucus – have warned that Ryan’s plan would not go far enough to roll back President Barack Obama’s health care law.”
“Then on Monday, Rep. Rob Wittman, R-Westmoreland, announced that he, too, is opposed to the plan, saying “it is clear that this bill is not consistent with the repeal and replace principles for which I stand.”
“The rest of the state’s Republican congressional delegation has not taken a public position on Ryan’s plan: Reps. Bob Goodlatte of Roanoke County, Morgan Griffith of Salem, Barbara Comstock of Fairfax and Scott Taylor of Virginia Beach.”
“Goodlatte, the senior Republican in the delegation and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said in a message to constituents last week that he was still reviewing Ryan’s plan “to make sure it’s a better way forward for Virginians than our current course.””
Dear Congressman Goodlatte, this is not a fence you want to be sitting on.
